Old ships and old cars

What a weekend in Halifax Regional Municipality. There were literally photo opportunities on every corner. TallShips, Pirates, antique cars, a Jazz festival, a Kiss Concert and more. The city was bursting at the seams with things to see and do.

I actually didn't do a lot of photos at the Tall Ships Festival this year - I couldn't get there at the time that I wanted to, and when I was there nothing really caught my eye. I did grab a few shots, but nothing terribly spectacular. Sometimes I think that even though I've moved to the digital media, I still take pictures like it's 35 mm and I have to conserve the film, LOL.

So I took a few pictures here and there, but nothing like the images I got at the Tall Ships festival in 2000. Those are still my favorite shots I have taken of the big boats with rigging and sails. Very romantic ships, all round.

The waterfront teemed with people, and as an added attraction this year they had people dressed up as pirates acting out little scenes here and there. They also had groups of re-inactors living life as if it was 1749 or so all over the waterfront. Many muskets and much cannon fire. And fireworks each evening, which I managed to miss each time.

What really caught my eye on the weekend were the cars at the Annual Quinpool Car Show. I regret not making it out for the Friday night cruise to Point Pleasant Park, because it must have been something to watch the cars rolling down Quinpool Rd. and heading for the park.

This beautiful baby blue chevy really gleamed in the sunlight. I wish I had taken a few more shots of it, but the ones I got were beauty.

Well, till next time, keep your eye open for photo opportunities. I know I will.
